RETAIL THERAPY: Shopping Can Be a True Addiction
Psychologists say compulsive shopping is a big problem that’s not too different from other forms of addiction.
They point out that addicts have compulsive tendencies and are out there searching for something to fill a void in their lives.
Some turn to alcohol or drugs – while others turn to shopping.
And, those who are addicted to shopping are not able to experience normal pleasure without buying stuff in stores or on the Internet.
Now, I have to say I kinda disagree a little with this study on one point only. I became "addicted" somewhat to EBAY for a while, not because of a void I needed to fill, but because I was finding things for sale from my childhood for cheap. It felt good to buy the items, have them delievered and relive the past. But after that, um.....can you say.....BUYERS REMORSE!
